Credit Reports
Loans have become the order of the day these days. The concept of borrowing money has been glorified with the introduction of credit cards. Now when more people have started to rely on loans and other credit facilities to execute their tasks, the lenders have started to enquire more about the history of the individual first. The information sought is in the form of Credit Reports. Credit Reports are sought by any money lending organization to determine the person’s creditworthiness. The Credit Report will list the financial history along with employment and residential history of the individual. The personal details furnished in the report are the same details that were filled by the individual in their credit application.
The whole report is an emolument of information gathered from banks, traders and other creditors. Credit Reports also lists any matter of public record entered against the individual. The report also records the number of times the credit report has been sought by someone in the last two years. Looking at the past credit structure of a person, a credit report enables a creditor to determine the ability of the person to repay the loan or keep up timely payments.
This enables the creditor based on the Credit Reports to decide whether to sanction the loan or not. The fact remains that the Credit Reports can never be made available to any organization without the consent of the person being reported keeping in line with the data protection act. There are also times when the reporting agencies refuse to provide credit reports or investigate disputes, informing the inability to identify the consumers.
There are problems sometimes with the Credit Reports with the rise in identity thefts and the like that are likely to damage our Credit Reports. It is therefore imperative that we keep tabs on the Credit Reports from time to time no matter what to check for the consistency in the information listed. Any negative listing should be attended to straight away like the unpaid bills reported while it has already been paid. Also, make sure that the concerned company notifies the credit bureau once you have made those payments.
Most of the companies these days rely hugely on the Credit Reports of individuals to see how responsible the person is. It doesn’t matter if it is the lender or the manager of the apartment complex, they would like to know the times that you have defaulted in payments or the like to determine the risk factor in lending you the money. Credit Reports are hence very important in the role of determining your financial healthiness to lenders and other companies that extend credit to you.
